In a world that constantly demands more—more speed, more noise, more possessions—many of us quietly crave the opposite. We long for stillness. We long for meaning. We long for something that reminds us of what truly matters.
In Islam, there is a beautiful concept that captures this longing: Zuhd.
Zuhd is not about rejecting the world completely. It is not about living with nothing. It is about living with awareness, and not letting worldly attachments control the heart. It is about being content, finding peace, and focusing on what remains when everything else fades.
When I first discovered stained glass art in 2020, I did not realize it would become more than a creative outlet. But something about stained glass spoke to my soul. The way light moves through it… the way colors soften the room… the way it turns ordinary spaces into moments of reflection—felt deeply spiritual.
Stained glass teaches us something quietly powerful:
-
Light is always present
-
Beauty does not need excess
-
Simplicity can be sacred
Each piece I create at Al Zuhd Design is inspired by this same energy. Whether it’s the sacred names, Qadam forms, or mosque silhouettes, my intention is always the same:
to bring calm and remembrance into your home through art.
